Thanx for the suggestions. The vet had him on a special food for a while. It was very expensive & didn't help. I will look into the ones you have suggested. Do you know who markets them? Do I have to go to specialty pet supply stores or online? What do you give for treats? It occurs to me that the same ingredients would also be present there.

Skin Allergies!
Heidi, The Honest Kitchen is sold only at specialty pet stores or online. Wellness is sold at Petco. If you go to their websites you can search for stores near you. What did your Vet have him on? Those prescription veterinary diets are for the most part just garbage.
When Andy was first diagnosed with diabetes they put him on one of the veterinary prescription diets and he had the worst breakout of his life. So I home cooked for him for a while. As soon as he was taken off that "prescription food he cleared up within a couple weeks.
There are other foods, expensive ones that will break him out. I only know to go through a process of elimination. A food with minimal ingredients and grain free would be the best to try.
When I home cook, I go to Costco and buy chicken breasts in quanity and cook them in a slow cooker. Then I separate it down into containers that will feed him for a week and freeze. Cook some brown rice, or barley to add to it and it makes feeding very easy. Dogs can be tested for allergies but the elimination process is just as effective and much cheaper.
When I home cook, I always supplement with vitamins.
