Bed rest for back problem
(read)
My mini has a back problem and the outrageious cost of surgery is prohibitive. Will bed rest solve this issue for the most part? He seems to be doing MUCH better after about a month now. We are keeping him confined, carrying him out for potty and putting him back in crate. He doesn't appear to be in much if any pain any more, but to be safe, we are continuing the bed rest, Any comments or suggestions?
A couple of days later: Sob! My Oscar is in pain today. His meds are wearing off and my poor baby hurts. I don't know what to do. I am afraid to pick him up but have to put him outside. It has been about 5 weeks since this all started and I am losing hope that he will get better. I DO NOT want to have to make a choice that I don't even want to think about.

Chiropractor
See my post further down on message boards. I had the same problem. A canine chiropractor fixed her. Afetr 1 visit she was normal. Her neck was out and her back from jumping off couch when I wasn't home. First vet gave her meds and she could walk, then after 2 weeks they wore off and she couldn't. They wanted to operate so I called the breeder. She suggested the chiropractor. Research your area for one. Its worth it. If you have xrays bring them. They MUST be trained in dogs so a human chiropractor won't do. Their spines are different. Good Luck, extra prayers for Oscar.
