I think that belly bands would be very helpful for him. It goes around the belly and it covers the wee wee and if an accident or intentional wiz happens the part that covers it will soak up that stuff. You have to put a cheap maxi pad in it. If you are interested I will give you the link for it.

I would try getting your wife to give him some attention, then going to his bowl getting him to sit and giveing him a small treat. After a while he should get into a routine of it and you can start cutting down on the attention first. With luck he should start sitting by his bowl when she gets home.
