Ruptured Disc - Updated Last Friday my doxie Lily (7.5 yrs) started twitching. It's like she is having muscle spasms in her neck. I took her to the vet's and they are not sure what it is or why it is happening. They prescribed a muscle relaxant and pain killers. Other than the spasms, she was acting totally normal. Saturday and Sunday she was just fine. Monday the spasms started again, so gave her another round of the med's. Tuesday and Wednesday back to her normal self. This afternoon the spasms started again. If you put your hands around her neck you can feel the spasm and you can also see her twitching. Has anyone experienced this before? It's really freaking me out. FRIDAY: This morning the twitching has turned into a full shake. Her ears are back; I'm sure this is bothering her also. We see the Vet at 5pm tonight. Sunday: Definately a disk problem of some type. Have to call the Doggie Neurologist first thing Monday morning. Have Lily on full crate rest! 09-23-11 Its official, Lily has a ruptured disk in her neck. She had surgery on Wed. and is doing as well as can be expected for only a few days post surgery. The road to recovery will be a long one for her. We will give her all the love she need's to get thru it all. 05-19-12 I can't believe it's been almost 8 months since her surgery. Lily is 100% healthy and back to being herself once again.
