Consider rescueing a senior dog.
(read)
I run a dachshund rescue and many people surrender older dogs. Some are legitimate reasons, like family illness, some arent (" we want a puppy")! The senior dogs - 6 years and over - are so great. They are usually housetrained, dont chew, dont try to escape, they have lovely manners and are just so easy to live with, yet they rarely get adopted - they end up staying in rescue. And we love them . But they deserve a home of their own. Getting older is no crime as we all know! These dogs are just treasues and no one understands how deserving they are. Dachshunds are one of the longest living breeds and can live to be 20! They have plenty of life left and no dog comes with a guarantee. Please take a chance on a senior at some point - it'll be a rewarding decision.

Where are you located?
I got Max from a rescue. My friend runs a rescue in San Francisco for Boston Terriers but she takes in all kinds of dogs, and especially seniors. (wonderdogrescue.org) Do you hang out on Dogster at all? It's a great place to find homes for your dogs. Dog bless you for the work you do. Seniors are great pets.
