Dry skin help
(read)
I have a black and tan short-haired doxie and she has really dry skin, esp this time of year. I try and cut back on washings and use moisturizing shampoos but nothing seems to help. Do you have any hints or tips to help her?

Dry Skin Help
Dry skin isn't a bad thing always, just think of it as the new grown skin underneath shedding the older top layer, like a snake does but in my Doxies they appear as flakes.
A daily brushing with any rubber hair removal device actually brushes away the flakes away and supports blood circulation at the cellular level to promote new skin growth.
I also add only Wild Deep Sea Salmon Oil from Wholistic Pet. First let me say that I do not use any form of vegetative based oils (corn or flax seed oils) because my Doxies are meat eaters and get enough through their feedings. Another oil I will never use is Cod Liver oils, a liver is the organ that removes toxins from the body. Cod Liver oil is questionable because of the pollutants in the oil itself, like salmon oil from fisheries. Those salmon are also polluted because of the cheap feed they feed the fish with....
Now the fact of oils is really simple, they come in chains of molecules such as Omega 3, Omega 6 and so forth. The problem here is that our bodies and the animals can only break down odd numbered chains such as Omega 3, 5, 7, and 9. The even numbered chains are actually useless.
Even a little oil from the bacon you cooked helps because of the source the fat came from, the bacon is a meat source.
