Tere writes:I heard about Lucy and her (not littermate) sister, Little Bit, in November, 2008. I had had her sister, Little Bit, since early June, when the person who fished her out of the Connecticut River gave her to me; her previous owner had died. Five dogs -- all dachshunds, had been left in the yard with nothing to eat until the owner's body had been found in the house. Anyway, the woman who took Lucy had little kids, and Lucy is just not a little kid kinda dog. Eventually, the woman gave her to me, so she could be with, as I said, her sister. After a week or so, Lucy has warmed up to the family of dogs (we have now a total of 6, all rescues by me) and is definitely a cuddlebug. I got all kinds of dire warnings by her previous owner about her digestive tract, her wantonness to snap at people, and things of that nature. What I have is a simply wonderful little girl who knows she's in her forever home, and that's she's loved. Her coat has softened up considerably, and although she doesn't like it AT ALL, she gets her teeth cleaned twice a week.
