Kennel training
(read)
One of the kindest things you can teach your doxie is to be comfortable and calm in his kennel. So many doxies, when they injure their backs, require 8 weeks of crate rest in order to recover and have the best possible outcome. If they've never slept in a kennel before, they can become quite stressed! Please do them a kindness, and train them to have a safe, quiet place inside their kennel.

I support this 100%
My boy had to learn about being content in his crate the hard way (crate and wait after a back injury) and he loves his crate now but holy cow did he ever fuss about not being able to sleep with mom at first.
Those of you who haven't crate trained have no idea what a blessing it is to be able to say "Bjorn go in your house" and have him happily trot in. I love knowing he's safe when I go out and not risking hurting his back by jumping on and off of furniture.
