playing ball!

okay, Emmett has a new thing! He gets all his energy at the same time we all go to bed. He brings his toy to our bed and stands between my husband and me as we lay trying to sleep facing each other. He drops the toy between our faces and stares at it in the dark. He wants us to try to grab it and then he goes for it too! His goal is to take it away before we get it. He will do this for about 1/2 an hour and will whine if we try to ignore him and pretend to sleep. I have never seen a dog that has such complicated thought patterns before! He seems to be able to reason. What a character!

Louis the 50 ft. dachshund is a basketball whiz!
His favorite game is (was) "throw the ball in the toilet, then bark until someone comes to get it and wash it off; then, if you haven't had a chance to close the lid, he'll dunk it right back in for a quick three-point buzzer beater! He will throw his ball over a gate and bark until we let him get it; play "throw the ball and hit Mom in the back while she's not looking!" or "throw the ball in the spaghetti pot." His special favorites are tennis balls, which will send him into a frenzy of first stripping all the fuzz off the ball (so there's yellow fuzz everywhere), then gradually breaking it apart and carrying small bits of it all over the house hiding them and barking for us to get them. OCD, anyone?
