Congratulations Litle Miss Tootsie

You make a SUPER HERO DOTD. You have all the traits of a perfect doxie with an extra dose of cute. I am sorry that you lost your eyesight at such an early age. I am sure with the help of your loving family you are probably adjusting very well. I hope we will get an update on how you are doing. If you did not live so far away we could go for a walk together. I would be your eyes and you could be my ears. lol

Hi Tootsie!

What a cute name!! Millie was recently diagnosed with SARDs, but is adapting as well as you. If you're like Millie, you're still a happy dog and are living a great life. Darma and mom act as Millie's seeing eye dog and person!! Hugs and kisses from Darma, Millie, and Kathleen

Congrats TOOTSIE!

Congrats on being the DOXIE OF THE DAY! How has Tootsie adapted to her blindness? We bet she has gotten so sure of herself! We now have Trudy's (our blind doxie) pup...Kallie. She is blind also (glaucoma caused)...both of our blind Doxies are as normal as can be! Joe will sometimes take advantage of his mom and steal a treat that falls from her mouth...but, Kallie is wise to him! Please update us about Tootsie and we would LOVE to see more pictures! Hi Tootise

I'm KC and I know about being blind. I am not quit blind, but I am getting there really fast. I am almost 15 years old and still pretty active, but I bump into everything. I have to listen to my mommie's voice just to find her, but then again she never let's me out of her site. My sister and Daddy are pretty good about watching out for me. I am blind in one eye and the other is almost there, but I just keep going. Your are young so just stay active and keep on going. Well it is time for me to go to sleep, I am so ready for my blanket. Come join me!!

What Is SARDS???

We are glad that Tootsie is adapting to her situation! We're sure that with typical dachshund determination, that Miss Tootsie will accomplish everything and more in her adaptation!

Try not to worry about Tootsie!

Joe's mom, Trudy, is a blind Doxie. And, you would not know it now unless we told you! She has our whole house mapped out with her nose and hearing..she can race at full speed off of the couch and into the kitchen at feeding time! We just have to take care not to rearrange the furniture! Outside the house is the same way...she is quite confident that we will not walk her off a cliff...so she runs and plays just as hard as she did when she was a plucky little pup! Doxies don't let much hold them back. Your Tootsie will amaze you - post more pictures of your precious little girl! Devra and Joe
