May 6, 2010 5:33 pm by calista from milton, FL Proud owner of fritzy news on FritzyFritzy went down on monday april 26..he went outside to the yard and when he didnt come when i called him, he was at the bottom of the short steps to the porch unable to move his back legs...that quick....tuesday he went into surgery..but so far there has been no progress...he comes home on saturday and we are praying that he will be able to walk again...but if not...Ill love him anyway and care for him...he did seem happier when i saw him on monday at the vets...I brought him a hoof...and everytime he dropped it out of reach, he would try to get to it....so, we have a long road to travel....poor guy has been thru so much in his little life....but im glad if it was going to happen that it didnt happen when he was chained in someones back yard starving...so, there will be alot to learn..ive spent some time on Dodgers list and if anyone else out there has a paralysed little one, tell me your story...i can sure use all the help i can get now....thanks alot...calista and the fritz dude.... They are smart, loyal, funny, and often independent. Bonnie is a rescue dog I adopted last year around this time. They just want to be loved and to be able to love you back. After seeing a photo of Bonnie after 6 months or so with me, the rescue agency I got her from said she didn't even look like the same dog - she was so happy. Of course, each dog is individual, but most dachshunds I know love to be outside and hunt various varmints (or varmint rocks, Joe), love walks, rides in the car, other dachshunds and usually people. I'm so excited for both of you! Can't wait to hear more. xo, Bonnie and Doreen December 16, 2009 3:43 pm by calista from milton, FL Proud owner of fritzy Mr fritzy visits the vetFritzy went to the vet on monday...his coughing had gotton alot worse over the weekend...(I was so afraid that it was heartworms) but it was an upper respiratory infection with a fever....a shot of an antiinflamatory made a world of difference..and by the time we got home the coughing was much better...he also had hookworms...so along with an antibiotic was given wormer to give every day for 5 days....Fritzy is a standard doxie, but only weighs 12 pounds...vet said he should be about 17 lbs...also the shelter thought he was about 4...the vet said probadly 2 or 3...this morning when i got up, Fritzy was ready to go...he jumped, barked, ran all over the house..and ran outside, then he chased the big white cat...(the cat chased him back too ) ...feeling better...he even looks like hes gaining weight and his coat looked shiny this morning...tonight makes one week in his furever home....he is such a sweetie!!!!!
