Mama held her as she passed & felt her heart stop beating as the vet did what she had to do. Our hearts are broken & there is a huge hole where she lived there in that spot in our hearts. I miss her jingling tags as she pranced behind me, my little shadow, i miss the cold, wet nose & the sweet kisses. I miss her sweetness. I miss opening the door & not see her coming in with her sister who is now grieving horribly. We are all numb & in great pain over our loss. She is young & whole & happy & waiting for us on the other side of the Bridge & i cannot wait to see her again. Forever in our hearts & always missed. I had Pancreatitis once and it was very painful. I got it for no special reason. When I was younger I to would hunt spiders and bee's. It is hard to keep us special little senior doxies down . Know that I care and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I must say you are as beautiful as ever. Remember Senior Doxies Rock! It is always bad to hear of another senior having health issues but us doxies are strong willed. I am praying that the tumor will stop growing and you will have many more years with us. My mom gives me astragalus root that helps inhibit the growth of benign tumors. You need to join the race that me and Sabrett are having to be the longest living dachshunds in history. I have been very lucky in the health dept lately. Mom worries about everything! We are so sad to hear of your health problems and will be sure to add you to our prayers at night. June 7, 2014 12:39 pm by Konahead from Boerne, TX Proud owner of Doodle Update on DoodleAs the days & years go by, Doodle is now 14 & has some major health issues. She developed Pancreatitis due to scorpion stings. She likes to hunt them. She has also developed SLO which is an auto immune disease which makes her toenails fall off & is very painful. Those are the least of our worries. She now has a tumor on her adrenal gland that is blocking blood flow from the vena cava. It doesn't seem to slow her down much even tho her hearing is not as good as it was & she cannot dig due to losing all her nails.She is still active & i am going to let her enjoy life as long as she is happy. We don't know how long she will be with us, the vet said he has seen dogs with adrenal tumors succumb to something besides that since it is not cancer, it is just wrapped around the vena cava messing with blood flow. Mom's sister lives in Fredericksburg so I've been out towards your neck of the woods pretty often. (I get to ride in the car when mom visits her sister). We sound like we have a lot in common. I live to hunt bunnies (we have the brown kind in our neighborhood) and would be out there all the time but when I'm not, I'm sleeping on my bench (mom calls it my throne; it's by the front door so I can see all the activity outside through the panes of beveled glass) or plastered against mom on the couch. For the past 2 years (since I've lived with mom) I've run the races in Buda. Lots of dogs.
