I am a medically retired boat Capt and live in a small apartment highrise which allows dogs under 30lbs and cats also. I went on Craigs list searching for a lap/apartment dog under 30 lbs without it being a yippy overactive dog. I saw a long haired brown and white Piebald but the owner wanted it to be in a yard because it had separation anxieties and cried for hours if left alone. I still tried to convince them the dog would be fine but they told me they were told to either move out of their Apt. or get rid of the dog.
I wasreally sad... and didn't want anything but a Doxy so I gave up looking and decised to possibly by a Rag Doll Cat. So for several weeks I looked for a cat and was ready to give up when I scrolled down Craigs List and there she was! My sweet baby Jake! :) I courted her owners for weeks by talking up my place and myself to them.
Jake was an ex-Show Dog and her show name was cupcake. I wasn't going to keep her name that so Jake sounded like cake and she took right to the name. She had one litter before I bought her for just $100. But I could only have her on an agreement that she wouldn't be bred again. I got her spade and she picked up some weight but then she picked up more due to dog sitters not obeying my instructions that forbid any human food and dog treats. So I got rid of a few of my sitters and only feed her one cup of dry food and a tablespoon of wet. Also she has gotten hungrier so she eats fruits and raw vegies.
I swear she has ESP. She can read my mind!
