Herbie is the best friend anyone could ever have. He has a very special personality and an understanding of at least a 50 word vocabulary. He loves his toys and hunting in the barn for any animal that may have ever walked thru his space.
He loves to ride in the car, truck and on the four wheeler barking at the cows, people or other dogs that we pass.
Whenever I am having a bad day or feeling ill he will bring me his favorite toy "Puppy Baby" and stay with me until I am feeling better.
Herbie will be 14 yrs old on 2/5/2012 and I can not get over how fast the time has flown by. Seems like just yesterday he was just a little guy in the palm of my hand. November and December 2011 has been a little hard on Herbie since he had a few health issues. He continues to recover and my plans are for Herbie to be the oldest living dachshund in history. Even when he is not feeling so well he is still the best friend in my life.
Doxie owners are the luckiest people on earth to have such brave, strong, funny little friends. I am so thankful for my Herbie.
January 2012 Update
I am so very happy to say that Herbie is back to his self these days, feeling better and keeping all the other animals in control. Senior doxies are the best.

He was in the ASPCA fun walk and costume contest. He is about 14 months old in this picture. I think he should of won first place for just being cute. This costume really matches his personality.

Herbie is about 8 weeks old in this picture.
He is such an alpha Doxie that this is just one of the very few times he would let you lay him on his back. He is trying to bite my nephews finger.
