Comments about FranklinMay 6, 2011 1:23 a.m. by Lady from HP, -- Proud owner of Marley Hi FranklinWe just wondered how you were doing these days, if you have adjusted well in your forever home -we can't imagine you being given up again. You have sure been misunderstood, haven't you? I've had to stay with other people temporarily while my Lady left the country, but she always comes back. I am very adaptable to my new surrogate family after a couple of days of mourning, but I am always so glad to see Lady come home to get me. Lady always leaves me with the familiar, so I know it is my temporary home. Home is where my blankie, dog dishes, toys, clothes, and crate are. I stick like glue to whomever Lady hands me over to until she comes back. And she always comes back. Now I have a big extended family who loves me very much. I am too old to travel internationally -it's too hard on our organs, so I just wait for my Lady to return. Let us know how you are doing these days, Franklin. We care. To have found a wonderful mommy and home.. your mommy is going to work hard with you to 'overcome' problems that were created by your 'old' dummy owners.. now you're in the right home and you will get some special help to calm down.. you are too cute not to love to pieces!! have a wonderful day and remember to give mommy and boy lots and lots of kisses to thank them! love roxy and winnie January 17, 2011 4:17 p.m. by BoomerSooner from Ada, OK Proud owner of Boomer Hi Franklin! How lucky for you that your mom understands that some doxies have "issues" that are no fault of their own. I can't imagine no one wanting a good lookin' guy like you...but you know what? The same thing happend to me...only my former family didn't want me because I turned out to be larger than a miniature. Like you, I found a loving home where my mom and dad don't care if I'm not petite. *Hugs* Boomer August 11, 2010 4:06 p.m. by barbara318 from Gladwyne, PA Proud owner of Henry Franklin just needs time, routine and security - with lots of love!Imagine if you were passed around like an inanimate piece of nothing; it would be no surprise that it would take time for him to feel secure. Dachshunds are VERY smart animals, and as agressive as he may seem now, it stems from confusion and not belonging anywhere, hence never having a chance to learn acceptable behavior. Get into his head, if you can, because empathy is key; give lots of treats and good feedback for what he does RIGHT, instead of just correcting what he does wrong. I know you'll know what to do; don't give up on him, use a crate to separate him if he's being nutty to give him time to calm down, and make sure you let him know you have faith in him, that he has a wonderful, brave heart, that you understand his confusion and his pain, and that you, with love, will show him the way to his place in your pack and to peace in his heart.
