So the story goes, Barley was raised on a farm with chickens, cats, cows, dogs, goats, and horses. In an attempt to raise some quick cash, her previous owner sold Barley on craigslist. On a fortuitous whim, we followed up the ad and met Barley in a Sonic parking lot. She was thin, cowardly, and riddled with fleas, but it was clear she was a lover. We took her home, and two months later (though the previous owner assured us it wasn't possible) Barley popped out four dachshund-terrier mix puppies (brown, brown, black, and blonde). The puppies stayed in the family, one of which stayed with us and is known as 'Rye'. Barley and Rye are bona fide members of the family, always entertaining, and always loving.
