Brother Rat must have strained his skinny long leg chasing golf balls...he has be walking on 3 legs and trying to get sympathy. I splintered one of my toe nails - no crying on my part like the RAT. Mom took me to the Vet-they just gave me pills to prevent infection. I took care of the problem myself, and chewed that dang nail right off! Mom was proud of me! (I think). Wow (Mom says euw, she's scared). And, we have some longhorns who live in a field not too far from our house (hook 'em!). You'll have to tell me all about the picnic. I'm sure you'll look great in your costume. I hope we get to see photos! Mom was away on business this week so I stayed in a pet hotel. It was nice and everything - and they reported to mom that I adjusted well - but boy was I glad to see her. She says there are no more trips away planned right now. I get to go with her when she visits family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. No races scheduled for me. There's one in College Station Texas (about 2 hours from here) in October, but mom doesn't want to overdo the racing thing - she wants it to be fun for me. We do, however, have an adopter's reunion scheduled for tomorrow. This is where everyone who has adopted from the agency from which mom got me, gets together over lunch (dogs included of course). They expect over 100 people. There's also a slide show of the photos people have sent in of their pets. Mom chose some great photos of me. I don't even have seperation anxiety anymore....I don't bark when mudder leaves....I don't have to be in the same room with a hooman....I'm quite content with my own company. It's one big par-tay here at Doxie Villa this month....one birthday after another! I bet the flowers your mudder is puttin' out is pretty.....my mudder is allergic to flowers, but she thinks they are bea-U-tiful!! Yesterday, mudder was using Gorilla Glue on a handle and it flew off the counter and landed on Cassidy's back!!....there was a glob of that nasty stuff on her....it bonded within seconds....mudder tried and tried to get it off, but not before it pulled a clump of hair and skin off Cassidy!....she has a pink bald spot on her back now! Mudder felt horrible....so she's been applyin' an ointment....poor Cass, she was just trottin' by minding her own business and BAM....she gets glued! How your float and costume comin' along?? You are amazing.When that pit attacked my BIG dogs, they were so confused, and wouldn't even bite! They just won't. (and they were bigger than her) I can't imagine if it had been one of my little guys. You really should report this to animal control, because, at least in this state (WA), they will haul his sorry butt away, or charge the owner a hefty MONTHLY fine ($250.00) for having a dangerous animal. Our city got tired of these type of incidents with the pitts. Please do me a favor - I understand that you will hear Peanut's screams in your memory (I would too) but each time you do, please finish the story. What I mean is, it's horrible that she was scared to the extent that she made those noises, but don't keep her there in your mind. As awful as it was, you saved her. Each time you hear her screams, please finish out the memory so that you also remember her as ultimately safe. That way, she won't remain in danger in your memory; each time you remember that she was in danger, you will also remember that she ended up safe. (There's also a package for Peanut on it's way). Thank God Peanut and you are OK! I LOVE doggies but that trigger in pits is so scary. Our neighbors had some, and one broke thru our fence and was attacking my BIG outdoor dogs who wouldn't hurt a flea (Brittany Spaniel and Lab/German Shorthair) I got them in the garage, and that girl bit me (and drew blood) through my jeans! I got outta there and told them to come get their damn dog! The kids apologized, and said "She was just scared." But it was in our yard!! A week or so later, she got out and bit a kid who was running from her...and I guess got put in the "doggie-klink." There are some serious issues with the breed. He gets carried away a gets a little rough sometimes. It's getting better. He loves the outside like me. I'm 7 and before I came here I never had been around other dogs. I love to go greet them but then when they pay attention to me, I run and hide by mom! Maybe your mom could have to meet with one or two other girls and then it wouldn't be so overwhelming. I ran for the first time last year (which was the first year I lived with mom) and mom is going to enter me again this year. Last year and this year, when we were at mom's sister's house, mom went to pick up her father at the local nursing home so he could spend time with the family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every year when she does that, I run down the street after her just as soon as I can. Sometimes I wriggle out of someone's arms and sometimes I have to wait till they let me out in the yard. Secretly, mom thinks its funny but she acts all concerned when her family tells her i got "out" again. Most conversations start with "we have her now, but....... ." Before I was adopted and took her last name, she decided that my name had to have b een "Fannywiggle" because when I'm happy (which I often am) my whole fanny wiggles as I'm sure yours must from your name.
