As a child we always had lots of all different kinds of animals but as an Adult always had cats. For approximately 40 years just had cats, they were just easier since I worked.
When I moved here to FL and retired I was in a Flea Market one day and spotted a little tiny mixed ball of fur and saw a sign, 'Mini Dachshunds for Sale' . Don't know why I was so drawn but I looked into the crate and there was my little Basha. She was only 8 weeks old and she was gathered around a huge block of ice with her siblings. I fell in LOVE! I asked if I could hold her and when I did I felt she fell in love with me as well. And the rest is history. She is 8 years old now.
Raya, is a complete different story: she was adopted through a friend of my niece who had the mom. She was amoung 6 pups and as I held each one at about 4 weeks old, Raya was the only one who layed in my arms and was wagging her little tail.
I picked her to become Basha's little sister. Basha was not happy because she was alone for almost 5 years. But they are Best Friends now....and do amost everything together.
And yes, I still have a cat, his name is Pedro and he is 10 years old.

I Love My Florida Room
Raya loves the Florida room in the winter months...she can see out of the glass sliding windows that enclose half the room. When she spots Squirrels her whole body shakes and her teeth start to chatter.

No One Can Find Raya
Thought I would hide for awhile, maybe Basha will want to play if she sees me hiding and we can play hide and seek...I wonder if she knows how to play that???

This Is My Big Sister 'Basha'
Basha is a dapple, long-haired mini dachshund and she just got back from the groomer. I just get my nails clipped, thank goodness, but Basha has to get a bath too!

Momma want you all to see Pedro. He is old, he's 10. We are just about to take a nice nap.
