I think most of us have been there. It's very scary. I do know it has taught me a lesson. No jumping, ever! My next doxie pup will only use stairs. My brother built Sabrett the nicest ramp with a side. We carpeted it. She uses it. To go up the big stairs she just waits for us. Lol I'm so happy he is doing well. He has a long long live ahead of him. I think once they get used to no stairs or jumping they accept it and don't try. Sabrett loved to jump on the couch, then in the window. For approximately 8 years my cushions were up so she couldn't. It worked! Great news on the weight loss. I wish we could lose a few pounds. Lol Take care and kisses and belly rubs to the sweet boy. I break them up in pieces and put them in the treat jar. Sabrett gets a treat and there are no calories. They have helped maintain her weight. My mom buys it for me at Natural Pawz in Houston and also some other pet stores and feed stores carry it. Mom likes it because it has a healthy protein percent and very low fat. Primal is an excellent company that uses only organic produce and antibiotic and hormone free meat. Sure hope you are doing better. Be careful going down the stairs. I want my best friend to stay happy and healthy. Also tell your mom she can go on line and get information about Primal plus they offer a free starter pak to be sure you like it. Take care. I have been ill and Mom's not been keeping up with my page. The vets found out that I have a tumor inside my bladder that will need surgery. But, they had to wait for surgery until I felt better. The vet found out that I have Cushing's Disease. I am on medicine for that and now I have normal lab work the surgery for the bladder is scheduled for this Tuesday, Dec. 3. They put me on chemo drugs while I was healing from the Cushings. The vets told my parents they will know more of what to do after surgery. My mom will try to let you know how I am doing. Mom said the one good thing is that my immune disease has not "acted up" with all of this. My surgery was cancelled."Whew" that was close! Come to find out the cataracts were actually not bad enough to cause a problem with my sight. Most of it is from getting old. Mom was very upset when she got my test results and the vet was still going to operate. Close call of me. No more eye drops, although I am still angry about that. You have to learn not to jump off of things. And stairs are a big no-no! I ruptured my disk last year and (yikes) had to have the MAJOR surgery. Thank the good lord that I'm now back to 100% again. It was the worst 10 weeks of our lives. Mommy said she NEVER wants to go thru that again! Mommy and Daddy built us ramps and have blocked off all the stairs in the house. No more jumping for me.
