I'm the senior Big Sister Dachshund of the house. I prefer to be called the Queen but I get referred to as Bigs. I'm almost 12 now and have had Nikki living here with me for a little over a year. She has helped me as I've begun to lose my eye sight. She takes care of chasing away the squirrels and bunnies from the yard and helps me find the backdoor when I get lost. She won't stand still long enough to have a good wrestling match but does help me when we go on trips finding my way around the hotel room or cabin. We even got to go camping this fall to a historical re-enactment that Daddy does. I can't wait to go again next year. We just got a new sister on 11/28/09 to be more of a playmate for Nikki since I can't play much any more. If she remembers to stay out of my food bowl and crate I guess she can stay.
3/5/10 update - Wendy was diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome a few months ago and her health deteriorated very rapidly. She couldn't hardly walk, her teeth were getting loose, and she didn't want to do anything but stay in her bed. On 3/5/10, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She is greatly missed in our family.

Wendy, I have lost 2 that are waiting for me at the bridge and
I have two who are with me now. Funny, in my mind and heart, they are all always with me. You too I am sure. The best of DOTD days to all of us who have loved Doxies, been loved by Doxies, and have had our lives made better because of Doxies. Bella Joy, Maci Grace, Georgia Belle, Maggie Grace, Anne and me too!
