My name is Abby Gail. I got that monikar because I can run like the wind. Oh yea, I'm always suppose to tell the truth so here goes. I'm a rescue dachshund who was found wandering along a very busy road. I was in pretty bad shape but being in rescue brought me back to health. I was a VERY quiet girl when I first came to live with my new Mom. Boy did that change! She loved me soooooo much I could just bust out and be myself. At first I was very, very angry. She didn't scold me but rather gave me a king size comforter for my very own. That's pretty big of her considering I only weighted 8.5 lbs at the time. Well, I vented my anger on that darned ol' comforter. I would drag it from one end of our home to the other, over and over again until I was exhausted. I made up my own game where I would hide my balls in it and chew holes to "find" them. It took about 6 months but I finally calmed down and became, what my Mom call me, a FANTASTIC teckel. Time has passed so quickly and I'm now 10 years old and I'm proud to say, a svelte 10 lbs. Only my hairdresser knows for sure if I have any gray yet. There is a wonderful, happy ending here. I've grown up now healthy, happy, full of energy and much loved. I won't ever have to be scared or lonely again. I live with my teckel sister, Mrs. Sissy; my teckel brother, Banjo; my Shih Tzu brother, Winston and our newest foster, Fraulein Freda Weinmeister. Stop by and chat a while when you can.

Cold snap here in Texas, it's below 70. I found a "dachshund electric blanket"!! Dad calls it a heating pad. Is there a difference?

These are MY toys. My brothers and foster sister insist on removing them from my chair where I hold court daily. How rude of them.

Well here I am with my new foster brother, Benny Von Teckel. We were both SOOOOO tired we just cuddled down and went off to doggie dreamland. Roof, Roof.....wonderful puppy dreams!

You make a very beautiful DOTD. Love your personality and spunk. Last year I got 2 sisters through Dachshund Rescue of Houston. One was a senior that was found wandering down the street. Boy she was skinny and stinky but now considers herself a princess. It is always a pleasure for an old dude like me to visit with such a pretty girl. Best to you and your family
