The Baroness von Bootsie Baby came to live with us 1/2010 as "foster"...that was a while ago! Bootsie was an owner surrender that wasn't very social & had become quite snippy (ok she may have really wanted to bite them). After many trips to the vets, oral surgery, losing 6 teeth, dropping 13 lbs & tons of hard work she has doing really well. I call her my little sharpei wiener! She is 10 years old and has cataracts but has become really well adjusted. We think that at some point in her youth she had some sort of trauma to her hind section. Bootsie's tail was definitely broke and she doesn't run like a normal doxie, but she tries very hard. Bootsie's has very soft wire coat, if it wasn't for her beard & brows she'd almost pass for a long-hair! Grooming has been interesting since we'd only had smooth coat dachshunds beforeI never know what Ill find when I brush her! Shes so well adjusted to our family now that weve decided that shell live out the rest of her life with us. After all she has us trained to rub her belly!
