Max, was dumped in a neighborhood during cold weather. Two girls hid him in a garage when the pound was hunting for him and then they posted online. Weezer Bob Goodin sent the post to me and I in turn contacted the girls. Had him in my arms and on the way to the vet about an hour after I saw the picture. His breath was horrible, no hair on his back part of the way up from his rump and the infection was so bad in his mouth that he had green stuff coming out his eyes. The vet immediately put him on antibiotics and after about a week thanks to Bella's Fund he had his dental and they pulled 5 teeth. He now only has 4 teeth (canines) in his mouth, but that doesn't affect his eating. He has had 3 rounds of antibiotics and his eyes have cleared up. He is partially blind, but he still roams all over the yard. They estimate his age at nothing under 12. He is such a happy little guy and has actually lost about 2 pounds, but needs to drop several more pounds. Now that he feels better we have started walk slowly to get the weight off. Senior Dachshunds rock.

Congratulations Max

Max you are the perfect DOTD. Also a BIG Happy Birthday, you are special. Herbie passed over the Rainbow Bridge on 9-4-14. Still miss him so. Reading about how your Mom is making life easier for you brought a flood of memories back. Enjoy your day and every day(Heribe's mom)

Mom of sweet Max

Max is now a slim trim 11 lbs. All the vets are guessing that Max is at least 18 years old. He now has no teeth and of course his little tongue hangs out all the time. It may have slowed his eating down a bit with no teeth, but he can still gum a dog bone to death. He spends most of his day in a warm dog bed covered up sleeping. Max had to move off the sofa because he is now blind and I was afraid he would fall off, but he is always covered up when he is sleeping in one of the many dog beds. The top of his head is white now and his black spots are turning white, but as long as he is happy and in no pain he has the life of ease.

Just stopping by to say hi to a fellow senior guy. You are so right about the fact that senior doxies rock. Enjoy Thanksgiving. Under the kids table is the best place to be.
