I didn't sleep all night and was just thinking about what COULD have happened. What amazes me is that i was able to throw that 60pd pitt 4 feet off the porch. When I went to grab peanut, the other dog tripped me and I went down. At that point , fight or flight kicked. Time slowed and a million things went thru my head. I knew I could save myself by scrambling into the house but I could never live with myself if I left her to die.If I got up, the dog would get my throat or belly so I said Iwe must survive. I curled my body around peanut and scrunched up against the wall. I figured the dog would attack my legs or back. it totally ignored me and kept trying to bite peanut. I was seconds away from lunging up and taking me and the pitt off the porch when the owner's son grabbed her off. I wasn't worried about the other dog, she was on top of me but was barking at the other dog. After the fact I realized I was willing to take a mauling for my dog!LOL She has given me so much love , laughter and devotion in the 3 years I have had her that , to me, there was no other decsion but to save her! I have to share him with Cliff, Sunny, Princess, and Cleo the Beagles. But he is owned by a few dachshunds just to keep up the insanity. We are all part of a Rescue organization. A dachshund rescue is mostly what we are. There are several with physical impairments, such as; missing feet ears and toes, blind, epileptic, and just plain old.
