Our NOW almost 10yr old doxie/beagle mix, Peanut, is our miracle pup...... About 3 weeks before his 5th birthday, he ruptured a disc and went COMPLETELY PARALYZED, the emergency vet said without surgery he would NEVER WALK AGAIN, we didn't have the money for the surgery, my husband had been laid off and we were already struggling just to keep our house, we have 3 other dogs, so with 4 total, loosing our house isn't an option as not to many apartments will allow 4 dogs, sigh..... We have a vet/chiro for our boys, so we called her, sobbing on the phone to our beloved Dr. Herlihy she explained to us how she had this amazing class IV laser, and at just $30 per treatment she felt this certainly wouldn't hurt and could REALLY help, she had seen amazing results thus far with healing in some grim circumstances. Key was getting him to her right away and hitting him up aggressively with the laser treatments. So that is what we did, all the way from our home in Kenosha, WI to her office in Downers Grove, IL, every day for the 1st three treatments and then every other day for 2 more and after his 5th treatment he stood up and peed for the first time on his own, prior to this we had to express his bladder as he had lost all function of bladder as well as the use of his back legs. After treatment #6 Peanut started walking, and by treatment #8 he was RUNNING AGAIN, it's now been 6+ months and we are down to just a chiro adjustment and check up every 6 weeks. Peanut is our special little guy, he is our miracle boy. He is my inspiration, if I'm feeling down or just this morning on a gray dreary Monday morning as I'm in my bathroom getting ready for work, thinking "Ugh, ugly monday, yuck O" and here comes little Peanut, all excited tooling into the bathroom to see when he is going to get his breakfast and I tell him "mama will get you guys your breakfast in a minute" then all excited, tail wagging, he hits the hallway, side ways, w/ smoke rolling off the back of his little, once paralyzed, back feet and it is at that moment that tears come to my eyes, as I realize whats really important in life. Peanut is a constant reminder of how blesed we all are to be here another day and how we should embrace it with the happiness and joy of a lil doxie boy once paralyzed, now walking and about to get his breakfast, one of his favorite parts of the day.......
