Maya came to us from Texas in August of 2008. She is 8 years old. When Maya came to us, she was extremely shy, and apprehensive. Over time, she has warmed up, and become much less shy.
Although her brother Baxter is a type A personality, and is stubborn and relentless, Maya rules the roost as our dominant dog. If we give rawhide treats to each dog, Maya will walk over to Baxter, and he will drop it on the floor for her to take. He then runs to my husband, and barks at him, to try to get another. Maya may be smaller than Baxter, big she is large and in charge in this doxie household.
Maya rarely runs, she takes things slow and is a lady of leisure. However, one of her daily activities is affectionately called the "prance dance". After going outside and doing her business, she comes dashing in the house, and runs to the treat drawer and dances back and forth so excited, knowing it's time for a surprise. She is always so appreciative of anything she gets.
Maya is a wonderful, sweet. loving dog...and we're so glad to have her as part of our family.
