I heard that Herbie told you about my "illness". The vets found out that I have a tumor inside my bladder that will need surgery. But, they had to wait for surgery until I felt better. The vet found out also that I have Cushing's Disease. I am on medicine for that and now I have normal lab work the surgery for the bladder is scheduled for this Tuesday, Dec. 3. They put me on chemo drugs while I was healing from the Cushings. The vets told my parents they will know more of what to do after surgery. My mom will try to let you know how I am doing. Mom said the one good thing is that my immune disease has not "acted up" with all of this. I have accepted the fact that Bert had wandered off because of pain he must have had due to pancreatis (sp). It has releived me of the agony of someone being mean to him. I was very upset and couldn't get straight talk from the vet. It took a med. doctor friend of mine to overlook his records and speak to the vet before I could accept what happened. I am so glad that you are back to your "doxie self"! I have had a rough couple of months but finally doing better. I think you knew that I was having cervical neck problems and they thought I may need surgery..well...it was not disc disease but my immune disease attacking my joints in my vertebrae. I have Immune Mediated Polyarhtritis and took medication 2yrs ago for about 7 months to put it in remission. I am now on meds again and may need to be on a small dose of prednisone for the rest of my life. Mom said she does not know how she can handle my huge hunger that I now have with the prednisone. I want to eat, eat, eat, and then eat some more! She is giving me pumpkin, green beans. She told me now she is going to buy rice cakes for me to snack on...can't wait because anything and everything taste yummy! Well...take care of your self and Muffin and it is always good when Mom reads me your blog about your wonder filled doxie life! Mom and me are getting along well. Mom found me a new "squeaky" toy that has a special squeaker that dogs (I now we really are not dogs) can hear but people can not. I am happy to say that I could hear it and played with it all night. I even took it to bed with me. I am able to hear real high pitch sounds. I also went to a special vet for an eye exam and my eyes are still great. Mom was worried that I might loose my sight since I just lost my hearing. Hope you are enjoying your summer. I am back to my old self, playing with toys, begging for food, wanting to go outside, you know all the doxie things. It is so nice to have such good friends like you and Muffin. My 14th Birthday is less than a month away and I am looking forward to more toys and extra treats.(Mom has been kind of stingy with the treats since I was ill) I have slimmed down to a good weight again and I think that is why I have more energy. Last week Mom let me go down to the barn with her and I got to hunt between the bales of hay. It was so much fun, but when I got home I was given a bath to get all the dust and spider webs off of me. I heard that you got to go for a walk and you barked at a deer, good job! I went to the vet today and I may have to have another surgery. Mom saw some drainage on my blanket and looked in my mouth, it looks like one of my teeth is loose and infected. I just had a dental week before and had one tooth pulled. The vet told Mommy to watch this tooth, well she did and it looks like it is having problems. I am on medicine now and the vet and mommy will make a decision in the next few days if my other tooth will be pulled. I just knew when I stepped into that vet's office he was going to try to do something to me. Mom said, "are you cold?"....I just shook and shook because I know that vet might do something like trim my nails or take another tooth out!! Take care, pretty girl! My parents went to Virginia last week and my fav friend, Deb, stayed with me. She even let me sleep with her! She takes care of me when my parents are gone and I love her too! Today I had surgery, so I am kind of slow moving. I had a dental and one tooth removed. I also had three tumors taken off..one on my lip, one on my chest, and one on my ear. I have to go back and have stitches removed in 10 days. Mom would not let me eat much today, she said it was for my own good but I sure did not lose my appetite with this. I have to be on a leash outside for a week because of all the stitches on my chest, that will be hard since I love to run and snoop. I hope you are still getting better and better. Mudder can brush me without me biting the brush now....I've really got a handle on the sassy talk with mudder.
