Hi! I'm Peanut. I am 7 years old and love to lay in the sun. I also love to sleep under the covers, belly rubs, sitting near my mommy and following my mommy. Oh and I love to look out the window, and eat, and sleep, and well almost everything. Mommy says I'm her favorite girl! I've had a rough few years. I didn't meet my mommy until I was 1. Before that I pretty much stayed in a cage until a lady bought me. I killed her bird and she got mad at me so that's how mommy got me. I like mommy much better. In 2008, we were walking and this big dog came over to sniff me. I didn't mind it until she got on top of me and then bit down on my back. She hurt me really bad. My ribs were broken and my lung had a hole in it. I had to have major surgery and stay in oxygen for a few days. Mom was really scared and I was too. I got better but still had a sore pop up from time to time. The doctor told mom it's an abscess. I had to have surgery again to get the infection out. Now I'm back to normal, and you can barely tell that I had major surgery.
We have recently moved into a house with a backyard and I love exploring! We also have a new baby that likes to pet me and I don't mind it too much. I wake him up every morning, by going in his room and making noise. Mommy always tells me to "Shhh" but I just want him wake up. Right now he is learning how to walk and I try to get out of his way so he won't fall on me. He also has really yummy snacks that I like to sneak away...mommy yells at me for doing that though.
I'm getting older now, and my back hurts me sometimes. I had to be on medicine for a while recently and mommy won't let me sleep in her big bed anymore. Plus its a little uncomfortable for me. I still love taking walks but can't quite make it that far anymore. Mommy puts me in the bottom of the baby's stroller when I get too tired.

PS-I told mommy she needs to put some better pictures on here and some with that baby too.

Oh Peanut, your story and photos made me smile AND cry. you just might be my very favorite dachshund i've met on Doxie of the Day. And that is saying a lot because i'm a dachshie-holic. A big 10 for you :) hope your back doesn't hurt you today

Doxies are always doxies and thus must "walk on the wild side" once in a while. Happy that you are the DOTD! Glad that you have a great Mom and a great life! Take care of that back and I hope it doesn't hurt too much. Enjoy your walks, and enjoy your rides but mostly just enjoy! Bella Joy, Anne and Mike too.
