Gretchen was a rescue, originally owned by a breeder, that felt she didn't fit into their breed pack. She came to us lacking basic social skills but is adjusting very well. My vet described her as a "stuffed animal" in that she had the proper form and parts to be a Dachshund but really didn't know how to act like one much less blend in as a family pet. Born in August 2007, she weighs 9.5 lbs and very content just to sit on lap and watch the world go by. She was quite timid and shy when we adopted her but has made great improvements. Even though she is still learning to simply be a pup, she is a true snuggle butt and loves to cuddle. We adopted her to be a sibling to my other Dachshund rescue, Peepers.
