Rain! Oh my goodness, does she hate to get her little body wet. After all, she is a Florida girl at heart!

Lady Bug is a sweet, sweet 15 yr old "senior rescue" we adopted from DARE (Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education) in Jacksonville, FL, on May 27, 2007.
This little girl had a rocky start with DARE -- being snatched from the jaws of death at a shelter near Tampa. She had been turned in to Animal Control (!!) by her previous owner. She had a suspected tumor which DARE had removed that turned out to be just a cyst. We are still amazed that anyone could just give up such an adorable girl. However, we'll never know ALL the details of what her former owner's circumstances were, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they just couldn't financially afford to keep her. Whatever the cause of her surrender, it was our great fortune that DARE claimed her and nursed her back to health.
It was love at first sight when I saw her picture on DARE's web page! Since the very first day when I went to get her she has been my constant companion. We are loving every minute of whatever amount of time she has left with us.

Celebrating Lady Bug's 1yr Anniversary on May 27
Her *special request* was for carrot cake (!) and so, of course, she had the first bite. Later she shared her cake with her family.

Lady Bug loves to ride in the Van! Here is the special blankie her Florida foster mommy gave her to bring with her to Georgia. She keeps it in her special crate.

Moochie the Magnificent
The Patriarch of all our family's Dachshunds -- Baron von Heyde -- lovingly referred to as Moochie. He was a seasoned traveller who enjoyed many camping trips along the Alaska Highway. Here he is in our camping trailer -- July 4, 1960. What a dog!

Our Yankee Cousin
This is Arnie - he owns my cousin, Janis. He lives in Seattle, WA. He can't help he's a Yankee. We love him anyway. Isn't he adorable? He's barely a year old and full of energy! He's also a double dapple -- with one blue eye and one brown eye.

Taz
This is Taz (short for Tazmanian Devil Dog!) and my son. Sometimes Taz comes to visit. He's a spunky little *almost* 5 year old red smooth Tweenie.

What would the world do without DARE! We are DARE followers, and are so thankful everyday for them! YOU are regal, and beautiful, and 15? WOW, you age well my sweet! I am so glad you are happy and healthy and that you have such a wonderful family!! We adopted my sissy from a bad situation, and we come from PA, but live in NY !! Maybe 2 wendy burgers today for you!! You are the star of DOTD today! Yipee!!!! Have a pawsome day!! love Roxy and Winnie
