Born 1996 or 1997. We are unsure. You see, Rocky was dropped off by his owners at a local High Kill Shelter in Charles County, MD. He surely would have been euthenized had it not been for a DRNA member being at the shelter checking out another dog.
Rocky is now a DRNA (Dachshund Rescue of North America) Foster dog at my home. He is 14-15 years old. He came to me on January 20, 2009. He had whip worm, rotten teeth and was not Neutered. Rocky had a mild stroke about a week later and was paralyzed on his right side, he could no longer walk. I ordered Rocky his own quad (4 wheels) cart to help him stand and get around until he fully recovered. Rocky had a dental and 22 teeth were pulled. Got some meds for the whip worm and has now fully recovered from the stroke. He will be neutered before he is adopted. I am sure there is someone out there that would love this little dog. He is the sweetest dog ever. Rocky's personality has really started to shine through now that he is no longer in pain from his teeth. He has learned our schedule and no longer wears belly bands. He definitely know what the kitchen is and he loves to go outside when the weather is warm.
Today Rocky has fit right into my pack and acts no different than the rest. He is now fully walking around on his own and no longer needs his cart. He has gained much needed weight and is much happier now that all the pain in his mouth is gone and he now knows what it is to be truely loved.
Should Rocky never get adopted, he will reside with me and the pack forever til' his day call to go to the Rainbow Bridge.
We Love you Rock!!!!!!!!!!!
