I found Ava through DRNA's website. She'd been found wandering through a neighborhood when the Humane Society picked her up. They guestimated her age to be about 10, but I'd say she's somewhere around 6-7. She spent time at the HS just in case her family was looking for her. Since no one came to pick her up, she went into DRNA's care. She then was kept at a boarding facility where she was safe, but it still wasn't like being in a home. Finally she was placed with her fabulous foster mom, Roxanne. I can't say enough good things about adopting through DRNA (they require a home visit before adoption) or about Roxanne. Also, she has Cushing's disease, but it is controlled through medicine.
Ava's first day home with Molly started out with some snarling and snapping, but given all she's been through, bless her heart, she was just showing that she's tough and was protecting herself. It didn't take long for the two to become friends. Now they like to wrestle and run the Dachshund 500 through my apartment, running laps through the kitchen/living room together.
She's a great girl!

Been awhile since we visited. Always enjoy looking at your pics. Mom fostered and adopted 2 "girl" doxies last summer. One is a senior and the other is around 2. Amazing how people can give up such a special gift. I am 16 now and still the King of my Castle
