I saw his picture at a kill shelter and it broke my heart. I contacted some dachshund rescues and not of them got back to me. Not one. Weeks went by and I had a little prayer in my heart for him. My heart was heavy. Then I got an email from petfinders that said a dog fitting my inquiry was available. I clicked on the picture and there he was! He had been taken in by a no-kill shelter but still in a shelter. Still his picture broke my heart and spoke to me. After much debate and consultation my mom and I went to the shelter to see him. I picked him up and asked his fee. There was no leaving him. If they would have said no I would have charged the gate. No, but I had no intention of leaving him in that shelter another moment. His nails were so long he couldn't walk and he was severely thin. After all that emotional turmoil we took him to our vet and he had a microchip! So then I was floored that I saved him and went through all that and him being in a kill shelter and he had a family. We called the family though and they said keep him, they were a state away. He's been in the family since December 5 and he's still getting used to us.
